Bit of a battery problem here.

Author:
This is a smooth, sexy piece of equipment. I'm no photographer, just a 'snapper' - family, nice views, records of occasions, none of your stunning detailed beauteous artwork for me - but 'that's a nice one of Tom and Ben' type of approach. One scenic occasion was recently not engraved onto the card because I discovered later that the battery and the memory card were not pushed right home into their housing. Very silly of me, but how could that be possible from a design point of view? The other factor people might like to know about is its extreme battery hungriness. Like my previous Cybershot this job will only last for a short while, so I've had to buy an extra battery and even then the battery indicator starts to tell me the bad news when I've hardly started on a clicking session. This applies whether I remember to switch the bleeder off between each shot or not.

But I do really like its easy portability - it slips easily into a top pocket and there is none of the commotion displayed by other members of my family as they get out the case, get the item out of its case, undo, switch on, adjust, test the wind speed etc.etc. to take their masterpieces. I have had some great shots and am getting used to the menus and the logic tree - though I do think the system scores low on affordance. Sometimes it is not very clear to a thicko like me what to do to get to what you want in the innards. Obviously, because of the camera's stunning size its buttons are tiny, so crumblies will need glasses and sharpened finger ends to operate them. I'm also beginning to associate the various functions with the beeps linked to each, but like all electronic stuff there is a lot of learning to do before you feel in control. I do not regret this purchase. I am at the stage of trying to match up the shortcomings of the camera with those of its owner. Hope this helps.
