Questions from the crowd about The North Face Sleeping Bags

hi, my son is going to cub camp next week, he's going to be indoors but without heating. Having never bought a sleeping bag before i'm a bit confused. Temperatures are due to drop again next week so I think he'll need at least a 3 season. I'd rather buy an adult one and I've seen a Gelert Freedom 300DL. Please could you explain what temperatures this is suitable for. Need help understanding comfort ratings etc. I would welcome any recommendations
