Hi I hope you can help me. Whilst

Hi I hope you can help me. Whilst I am not a technophobe I have let the developments in TV/DVD/HD/Blue ray etc get away from me. I have a Sony TV with an inbuilt freeview receiver. I have a VCR and a DVD player. What I am looking for is something that will draw them all together so I can play/record on VCR or DVD on one machine, possibly with an inbuilt Freeview receiver but I just don'tknow where to start or really what questions I should be asking except Blue Ray v HDD (don't really know what it means or what is best or if they r are aboth compatable with each other). Also whether a machine with DVD/VCR and inbuilt Freeview receiver will affect the inbuilt freeview receiver with my current tv. I have seen the Panasonic DMR-EX98-V VCR/HDD/DVD Recorder/Digital Receiver in John Lewis, and am thinking of buying it but am not sure if it is what I need or how it will work with the current TV (not yet ready to buy a new TV unless there are compelling reasons to do so). Can you help please?

Generally any box you buy can override the built in freeview in your tv. What you seem to be after is a PVR in the form of sky+ or tivo. So option 1: get yourself Sky+ and forget all the freeview malarky. Option 2: use the inbuilt freeview in the tv and buy yourself a Tivo box (can only get 2nd hand via ebay now) - brilliant machine.

  • Toshiba HD-EP35 HD DVD Player review Despite one or two minor niggles, this is certainly the de facto leader for the blue laser format on the market today, and the fact that it's offers you outstanding hi-def performance and a superb set of features. If you are one of the DVD die-hards, or simply don’t care having 5.1 analogue outputs and want the best possible DVD performance, then the Toshiba HD-EP35 is an ideal choice. originally on: TrustedReviews D. | Read full review
