Is Halo3 too short
Right a new one. Is the Halo 3 campaign too short? I managed to finish it in 5 hours, not boasting but when you're spending £40 on a game you do expect it to last a bit longer

Yeh - I found exactly the same problem. To be honest, I didn't buy it for the single player campaign, but rather for the multi-player side of things. Basically - halo 3 is "enhanced" not "evolved.

For me, and without want to be rude to Rupert, anyone complaining Halo 3 was "too short" wasn't playing it on a high enough difficulty. Anyone who has played before really should start on "Heroic" or higher; "Normal" is just far too easy for many gamers. It's definitely taken me more than 5 hours and I'm only on Level 3 in Single Player (Heroic) but I've completed the game in co-op. There's obviously the Multiplayer aspect, as Stuart has said, and there's the Xbox Live Achievements to collect. While it may not be as deep as some may want, for my money it's far from shallow.

Yeh - that's fair Geoff. I'm actually just finishing it on Normal right now and will go back and try Heroic for sure. It's taken me 14 hours so far in total (not all at once I may add) :-)

hmm - not sure I should have to play it on a more difficult level to get the full experience - after all isn't normal supposed to be challenging by itself?

That depends Stuart - I'd heard some pre-launch rumours about it being "too short". Then when I got the game I considered the different options; Heroic is listed as "the way it's meant to be played" or something like that. Obviously Legendary is only for the best so I figured I'd try it one notch down knowing I could lower the difficulty further if it proved too tricky. The problem with starting too low is that you breeze through it unchallenged and wonder "is that it??". I'm a half-decent player and I died 3 or 4 times in the first couple of levels, which seemed about right. My flatmate (who is a console FPS newbie) played it on Normal and just waltzed through the levels, blitzing areas that had taken me hours. That's when I knew Normal is just TOO easy.

Well, I guess definitely with hindsight and others saying exactly the same thing, there is no excuse for not starting on a more difficult setting. Too late for me! Now if only games could standardise on the difficulty levels so that "normal" is the same across everything as opposed to having to work out which level is best for every single game.

Shorter than the last 2 yes. Play the solo campaign first, then play co-op with a friend or someone online, but don't swap between the two or you lose the game saves. I did this on solo got level 8 out of 9 then swapped to a co-op game only to find next time I wanted to catch up with my solo game the file was deleted (let's just say I was rather annoyed - Grrrr). The multiplayer, theatre and forge make up for the short game length anyway so enjoy. And check in at Bungie.net's website so that your scores and your friends are all able to be seen.

eek - bummer Jon - that's not a fun thing to happen! I'd take it back and demand a refund :-)

Yea it is a little on the short side. But they have a lot more replay value than in halo 2. With the skulls. When u play with the skulls activated it adds a lot more replay value to the campaign. Also the Cooperative play is amazing. System link, Live, 4-Player, whatever you want.
