OverLord (Xbox 360)

I bought this as the premise is slightly unusual in that you control an army of small minions with each of the four factions having some special skills. Your job is to control them and send them on tasks to achieve set goals and quests. Quests earn you gold and defeating monsters earns you points to summon more minions. For example, you come across a big lumerbing troll in the woods which is really hard to kill and keeps jumping on my troops - killing them all. The trick is to use your green minions to activate their assassin mode and jump on his back and stab him till him falls over. Simple! There are loads of quests to do and the game world is pretty huge. On the downside, I must admit to sometimes being a bit lost as to what to do next and having to try and find a new quest from somewhere. Also, there are a few control niggles. Right now - I just need some motivation to finish the last bit!

Pros

  • Original and innovative
  • Great graphics and gameplay
  • Lots of levels and quests to complete
  • Fun and amusing

Cons

  • Contol system can be a bit quirky sometimes
  • Sometimes get lost trying to find what to do next and where to go

Agree with you on the "Niggles" Phil - control system isn't perfect but you do get used to it after a while.

Q & As

  • Is Halo3 too shortRight a new one. Is the Halo 3 campaign too short? I managed to finish it in 5 hours, not boasting but when you're spending £40 on a game you do expect it to last a bit longer from: Rupert W. | 22 answers
