What lenses do you recommend for this camera. I really like a general purpose 28mm to 200mm lens. Do you know of any good ones that fit this camera?

The really great thing about the new Canon range, even the 400D and the 350D before it, is that they are compatible with the entire range of Canon Lenses, so you have many choices. The obvious lens to fit the parameters of your question would be the Canon EF 28-200mm f/3.5-5.6 USM. It is not the fastest lens in the world, but f/3.5 is more than fast enough for most uses, and the fact that this lens has the USM system for auto focus means that the performance will be very satisfying.
