Still Not Sure

Ive had the 950is for a while now and i'm still not sure about it. No doubting the sexiness of it and a plethora of features, but so far all of the photos ive taken have looked so "soft", even on superfine setting. With all of the rave reviews on here i'm left wondering whether i've got a duff one. I'm having to sharpen every single photo using editing software to get anything like the same clarity i got from my old 4mp Samsung. I'm really wanting to like this camera as it's a beautiful piece of kit and was expensive, but so far i'm left feeling a bit disappointed. Like i said, maybe i've got a dud.
