Thinking about a camera for my cousin's daughter...

I am researching a digital camera as a gift for my cousin's daughter. My brother and I are going to buy it together, and apart from the preference for pink which seems admirably covered, I was wondering if anyone can give me a steer on how easy this camera is to use? My recollection of Fuji is that they are quite intuitive, but I can't find any local shops that have the camera in stock to let me see for myself. Thanks in advance...

Going from 300D to 40D, good idea? How is it for astronomy photography?I've been in the market for a new camera body since my 300D's processor fried itself. How does the 40D stack up for the price? Also, I really want to get into astrophotography as well (though I know nothing about astronomy -- so that's also new to me). Is the 40D any good for that?
