This model has a serious problem

Author: keefors
My first LCD TV, read the reviews, this was Sony's latest and the reviews on their 20ins TVs were good so took the plunge. Had to wait 6 weeks but it was a great price. Easy set up and was intially pleased. However started to notice strang ghosting and sort of morphing of faces when the contrast in the scene was low. Some programs were almost unwatchable, especially American Gangster DVD. After comparing notes with other LCD TV owners called Sony. They said it shouldn't be like that but would only offer a repair. Thought I'd just been unlucky, but looked on AV Forums and saw another owner with exactly the same problems, including that it takes the screen several minutes to come up to full brightness and although spec is 178 degrees viewing, if you get outside 90 horizontally or 45 vertically, whilst you can see the picture, it loses half the detail. Pity I really liked everything else about it. Have returned it to Amazon for a refund who were great about it - wonderful customer service (assuming my refund is made!) Not sure what I'm going to do now, it confirmed my beliefs about the technology which was responsible for me staying with my old TV.
